In a statement issued here, Kamal asked the party office-bearers to extend cooperation to the newly appointed treasurer, who is a businessman by profession.

“After serving the people in various ways, he decided to join the MNM to pave a better tomorrow for the future generations of Tamil Nadu. He holds the positions of State Executive Committee member and is in-charge of the party’s Tirupur zone,” MNM insiders said.

Chandrasekaran, who is the managing director of Anitha Texcot India Private Limited, began his career at the age of 17 as an employee of a garment factory. He set up his own business within three years and has provided employment to thousands of people since then, they added.

As an environmentally conscious citizen, the statement said that Chandrasekaran has planted more than 1.5 lakh trees in and around his home town Dharapuram. He has also distributed 10,000 cotton bags to reduce the usage of plastic bags. He was instrumental in setting up the Samudhaya Kudam in Ellapalayam, his native village.
