Bid to murder college girl for declining love

A 24-year-old youth attempted to murder a college girl after she declined his love proposal here on Monday.

According to police, M Ranjith (24) from Seventh Cross Street in Gandhipuram and working in an IT firm in Saravanampatty, had developed friendship with a 21-year-old girl studying in a college located on the same premises.


“He had proposed to her, but she refused. Yet, he kept on meeting the girl and insisting on her to accept his proposal. She also stopped responding to his calls. On Monday, Ranjith visited her house, when she was alone,” the police said.


The accused had again pleaded with her to reciprocate his love. “Suddenly, a quarrel broke out between them. In a rage of anger, denly Ranjith took out a blade and slit her throat. As she cried out in pain, Ranjith escaped from the spot,” police said.
