Speaking to DT Next Naina Masilamani, coordinator of the all associations federations said there was a plan to move a special leave petition (SLP) in the Supreme Court. “We are waiting for the orders in our case filed in the Madras High Court as we have to base our SLP on this,” he added. Fuming at Ranipet, which had no qualification to become a district HQ according to him, he said, “Till date the government has not announced the reason why it chose Ranipet over the claims of Arakkonam to be the district HQ.” Meanwhile, Vellore residents were also dismayed that Vellore was now an “emasculated district as it had no industries as most were in Ranipet district and the leather units in Ambur and Vaniyambadi were now in Tirupattur district. The tourist attraction of Yelagiri Hills is now part of Tirupattur district while a small portion of the Jawadhu Hills also belonged to Tirupattur district. The major portion of Jawadhu Hills falls under Tiruvannamalai district.
