AIDWA protests against micro finance firms for threatening SHG members

The AIDWA members staged a protest against the micro finance firms for threatening the Women Self Help Group members to pay the outstanding amounts with interest and they demanded a moratorium of loans till March 2021.

According to the protesting members, the Self Help Group members have been undergoing financial problems owing to lockdown due to COVID 19 pandemic. Since they could not earn anything during the lockdown, they could not pay the loans properly. However, it is said, the micro finance firms had threatened these SHG members for payment of the outstanding amount with due interest. The members demanded action against those agents and the financial firms and demanded to disburse loans through nationalised banks and cooperative banks with subsidy and asked the government not to release funds through the private financial firms. They raised slogans against the financial firms and attempted to besiege the district collectorate.
