The infant was heard mewling behind a ward, subsequently which, the staff rushed to his rescue. Found wrapped in a cloth, the infant was thereafter handed over to the neo-natal ward. The doctors who checked the baby found it healthy, though he had no ear lobes. They gave him first-aid and handed him over to the government baby care centre.

On information, All Women Police Station Inspector Chandra reached the spot and held inquiry. A case has been registered and a search is on for his parents. “We suspect the parents abandoned him because he was born without earlobes,” said Chandra.

After investigation, the baby would be officially handed over to the government home, the inspector said. Meanwhile, the hospital staff told the Inspector that they could hear the mewling sound of the baby since the previous night and therefore it was possible that the parents could have abandoned him there the previous night. They expressed happiness that the baby survived the night all alone.
