9 samples turn negative, two results awaited

Nine persons who were under quarantine in Tamil Nadu have tested negative for COVID - 19. The State Health Department officials said two new samples were taken for tests on Sunday.

“The nine samples sent for test of COVID-19 was found to be negative. Two sample tests are waiting for results which will be out on Monday. Till now, 88 samples have been taken from the passengers and sent for testing at King Institute of Preventive Medicine (Chennai), National Institute of Virology (Pune), Theni Medical College, Tirunelveli Medical College and Tiruvarur Medical College. Of them 85 turned negative, one was tested positive and later tested negative, and two samples are waiting for results,” said Director of Public Health, Dr K Kolandaisamy.


In Tamil Nadu, till date 1,74,880 travellers have been screened at the airports in Chennai, Tiruchy, Madurai, and Coimbatore. A total of 1,973 passengers are under home quarantine for 28 days and 15 are under hospital isolation.
