6 bonded workers rescued from Lalgudi brick kiln

Later, the rescued children were handed over to the child protection officials. A case has been filed against Subramani and investigations are on.

TIRUCHY: Revenue officials rescued six bonded labourers including two children from a brick kiln near Lalgudi and registered a case against the owner on Monday.

According to official sources, Subramani, a resident from Thandankorai village near Lalgudi was running a brick kiln in their locality.

On Sunday evening, the Lalgudi RDO Sinvasubramanian received information that bonded labour is prevailing in the particular spot and so a team of officials formed a group and conducted a search operation.

During the surprise inspection, the officials found that there were bonded labourers working in a particular spot and found that six persons including two children were working at the brick kiln of Subramani and soo the officials all the six including rescued Ayyanar (24) and Mariammel (21), and two children aged between 10 and 11.

Later, the rescued children were handed over to the child protection officials. A case has been filed against Subramani and investigations are on.
