42 tourists escape after bus skids off road near Dum Dum Rock

The moving bus crashed into a parapet wall alongside the road before hitting a tree luckily. It caused simple injuries to the 42 tourists, including 22 women on board.

MADURAI: A tourist bus travelling down from Kodaikanal skidded off road near Dum Dum Rock area and almost fell into a pit. It occurred at around 10.30 am., when the bus driver lost control while turning around a narrow stretch. The moving bus crashed into a parapet wall alongside the road before hitting a tree luckily. It caused simple injuries to the 42 tourists, including 22 women on board. All those inside the bus were rescued after breaking open the rear glass. They belong to Unjha of Mehsana district, Gujarat. Days ago, they started a tour of South India from Karnataka and continued their journey up to Palani and Kodaikanal before travelling to Madurai. Devadanapatti police have filed a case, sources said.
