On Monday night when the girl was walking to a shop, three youth forcibly took her to a secluded place and attempted to rape her but the girl tried to escape but was attacked by one person of the gang and she fell screaming.

On hearing her screams, a passersby ran to the spot and rescued the girl, while the three youth escaped and fled from the spot.

On receiving information, the Ganesh Nagar police rushed to the spot and conducted an inquiry and the police later identified the accused as Karthik alias Velmurugan (27), Vijay (27) and Ramakrishnan (28) from Gandhi Nagar. On Tuesday, the police arrested the three and booked them under various sections including Pocso Act.
