20-year-old college student kills self in Sriperumbudur

The police sent the body for post-mortem examination to the Sriperumbudur government hospital and registered a case and identify the reason behind the murder.

CHENNAI: A 20-year-old private college student killed himself at his college hostel room in Sriperumbudur on Saturday.

The deceased Vishnu Kumar of Kovilpatti was studying Bachelor of Engineering — third year — at a private engineering college in Sriperumbudur.

Police said Vishnu Kumar would talk to his mother over the phone every night. On Friday, when his mother tried calling, his mobile was not reachable and again on Saturday. Soon his mother informed the college administration and later the hostel warden was informed.

Police said when the warden knocked on the door there was no response from Vishnu Kumar. Sriperumbudur police were informed and they rushed to the scene.

They broke open the door and found him dead.

Further, on checking the body, they found that there was a cut injury on his left hand and found that he had broken his specs to hurt himself.
