19 kgs ganja, 2 vehicles seized in Vellore; 5 arrested

The same evening another 2 kilos ganja was seized following the arrest of long time absconder, Rajendran (37) of Thorapadi, Vellore and his associate, Vimala (41) in Ariyur police limits.

VELLORE: Continuing their anti ganja operations to prevent smuggling of ganja from Andhra Pradesh through Vellore border, police arrested 5 persons and seized 2 vehicles and 19 kilos ganja on Wednesday evening, sources revealed.

While Poovarasan (25) of Hosur and Vinod (21) of Tiruchengode were arrested at the border checkpost at Christianpet when they attempted to smuggle 11 kilos ganja through a government bus bound for Cuddalore from Tirupati, another 6.3 kilos ganja was seized by Sathuvachary police when they pulled in individual Eswaran (35) of Andipatti in Vellore.

The same evening another 2 kilos ganja was seized following the arrest of long time absconder, Rajendran (37) of Thorapadi, Vellore and his associate, Vimala (41) in Ariyur police limits. A car, a two-wheeler, a weighing machine, 4 mobile phones, 5 ATM cards and 3 bank passbooks were also seized.
