11 PCs, 2 CCTVs, meant for polling, stolen from Gudiyattam school 

A day ahead of polling in Vellore Lok Sabha constituency, 11 computer systems and 2 CCTV cameras fitted for the elections on Monday in a government school campus in Gudiyattam town were stolen.

Polling officials, who came to the Panchayat Union Primary School, near a private arts and science college, which was to be used as the polling booths for wards 29,30 and 32 under the Gudiyattam Assembly constituency, found the materials meant for polling security missing on Sunday.


The 11 computer systems were provided to the school for a proposed smart class project. In addition, the two CCTV cameras were fitted for the Monday polling for additional security.


Polling officials, who came to the school on Sunday to prepare for the elections found five classrooms and the security room broken into. Apart from the 11 computer systems and the two CCTV cameras, the officials found a printer and a phone from the classrooms too were missing. The CCTV cameras were stolen from the security room. Officials informed the Gudiyattam Taluk police, who rushed to the spot, registered a case and started investigations.
