Inter Milan on Sunday announced that winger Ashley Young has tested positive for Covid-19, making him the sixth player from the team to contract the virus in the past week. Inter said that Young had taken a test in Friday and is now isolating at home.

The news comes a week before Inter's scheduled derby against AC Milan and Young joins Alessandro Bastoni, Milan Skriniar, Radja Nainggolan, Roberto Gagliardini and Ionu Radu on the sidelines after testing positive for the virus.

"FC Internazionale Milano has disclosed that Ashley Young has contracted Covid-19 after taking a test yesterday at Appiano Gentile. The English football player is now isolating at home," Inter said in their statement.

Inter's league match against Milan is scheduled to be held on October 17.

Young, who started his career with Premier League side Watford, made nearly 200 appearances for Manchester United, with whom he won the Premier League, the FA Cup, the League Cup and the Europa League before joining Inter in January this year.

Inter have played three matches thus far in the Serie A and have won two and drawn one.
