Top Indian female boxers to take part in Test event from Jan 19 in Shillong

Top women boxers from across the country will descend here in Meghalaya for the boxing Test games and trials for the 12th South Asian Games, which will take place here next month

Top Indian women boxers including the likes of MC Mary Kom, Sarita Devi, Aruna Mishra and others will be seen in action at the North Eastern Hills University, SAI Special Area Games venue.

As many as 60 female boxers from across the country will battle it out in three categories?51 kg, 60 kg and 75 kg?during the four-day event.

Working president of Meghalaya State Olympic Association, John F Kharshiing said that the event will comply with international guidelines and all the equipment required for the games like the scoring machines etc., will be put in place.

He also hoped that the Test games will help the boxers rehearse well for that coveted gold medal in the SAG finals.
