Tokyo Olympics: Vikas Krishan loses in the preliminary round of Welterweight division

Indian boxer Vikas Krishan was defeated 5-0 by Japan’s Quincy Okazawa in the preliminary round of Welterweight category in Men’s boxing at the Tokyo Olympics on Saturday.

The judges awarded 10-9 favouring the Japanese’s favour as Vikas landed a jab right. The opponent was cautious throughout bout maintaining his distance and avoiding punches. The second round ended with Okazawa landing clean punches and Vikas bleeding below his eye and the judge favoured the Japanese once again with 10-9.

In the final round, Vikas needed a knockout to win the bout but fell short as Okazawa got him first. The judges saw the bout as it was and gave 10-8 declaring the Japanese as the winner.
