The freshly-crowned Asian junior champion got the better of higher-seeded Yannick Wilhelmi (Switzerland) in four games (10-12, 11-6, 11-8, 11-3). Chotrani dropped the opening game, but came into his own in the following ones to defeat Wilhelmi, who accounted for Yash Fadte in the previous round. Chotrani, however, had a fluent entry into the pre-quarterfinals with a straight-game victory over D Khan of Canada. Barring Chotrani, India had a tough day at the office. Rahul Baitha lost to second-seeded Egyptian Omar El Torkey.
