Liyaakath powers Chennaiyin FC U-15s to victory

Chennaiyin FC Under-15 team secured its first win of the 2018-19 Junior League season with a 4-0 triumph over Raman Vijayan Soccer School U-15s at the SSN College Ground here on Friday.

Mohamed Liyaakath starred with a hat-trick, with S Yugan scoring the other CFC goal.

Liyaakath has been called up to the U-16 national team camp, commencing in Goa on Saturday. He is the only player from Tamil Nadu to be called up, having already featured for the India U-16s during their exposure trip to UAE earlier this year. 

Liyaakath was promoted to the CFC U-15 squad after impressing with 23 goals for the CFC U-13s in last year’s Youth League. Liyaakath was one of the three changes made to the Chennaiyin side that lost 0-1 to Great Goals in its opening game. Taufiq Ahamed and RA Kishore also came into the starting eleven as Caron Kennedy, J Manoj and K Suriya made way. CFC will face FC Madras in its next outing at the SSN College Ground on Monday.
