Cricket: Tamil Nadu loses to Vidarbha

Ashwath Mukunthan’s splendid effort of five for 35 went in vain as Tamil Nadu lost to Vidarbha by 90 runs in the BCCI U-23 men’s tournament in Jaipur on Monday.

Electing to bat, Vidarbha was all out for 231 in 49.2 overs with Yash Rathod contributing 67 (82b, 4x4, 1x6), while D Akshay chipped in with a useful 52 (70b, 5x4). In reply, TN’s batting came a cropper as it was bowled out for 141 in 40.5 overs. Mohit Raut scalped four for 22 while Raj Kamal Choudhury took three wickets for 35.

Ramyashri bowls TN to big win 

Tamil Nadu romped to a 181-run win over Tripura in the BCCI U-19 women’s one-day tournament in Porvorim, Goa on Monday. TN opener C Shushanthika scored 75 (117b, 5x4) to help her team score 217 for eight. Setting off in its chase, Tripura was jolted by left-arm spinner KN Ramyashri who took six wickets for five runs in a 10-over spell that also included six maidens.
