2026 TN elections | MDMK candidates to contest all four allotted seats on Rising Sun symbol

The party has been allotted Modakkurichi, Madurai South, Kadayanallur and Sirkazhi (SC) constituencies. MDMK candidates Senthilnathan (Modakkurichi), Boominathan (Madurai South), Rajendran (Kadayanallur) and advocate R. Senthilselvan (Sirkazhi) have been fielded.

CHENNAI: Marumalarchi Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam general secretary Vaiko on Wednesday announced that the party’s candidates would contest in all four Assembly constituencies allotted to it in the Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam-led alliance under the Rising Sun symbol.

The party has been allotted Modakkurichi, Madurai South, Kadayanallur and Sirkazhi (SC) constituencies. MDMK candidates Senthilnathan (Modakkurichi), Boominathan (Madurai South), Rajendran (Kadayanallur) and advocate R. Senthilselvan (Sirkazhi) have been fielded.

Earlier, it had been announced that the party would contest in Sirkazhi (SC) on its own symbol, while the other three constituencies would be contested on the Rising Sun symbol. However, the party has now decided that its candidates in all four constituencies, including Sirkazhi, will contest on the Rising Sun symbol.

In a statement, MDMK said that advocate R. Senthilselvan would contest from Sirkazhi (SC) on the Rising Sun symbol as part of the alliance in the 2026 Tamil Nadu Assembly election.
