Acting on a tip-off about the presence of militants, security forces and Special Operation Group (SOG) of Jammu and Kashmir police launched a joint search operation at Gund Jehangir, Hajin, Bandipora.

Security forces sealed all exit points and launched house-to-house search operation, the sources said. The identity cards of all male members were checked before allowing them to go.

However, no one was arrested during the operation which ended after several hours.

It is believed that militants, who were hiding in the forests during summer, had come down in plains following snowfall and chilly weather in the heights. Security forces destroyed a number of hideouts in the forests before the onset of winter.
