Former chairman of Tata Sons Cyrus Mistry dies at 54

Former Tata Group chairman Cyrus Mistry died in a road accident near Mumbai on Sunday.

CHENNAI: Cyrus Pallonji Mistry, Industrialist and Former chairman of Tata Sons died in a road accident after his car hit a divider in Maharashtra's Palghar district neighbouring Mumbai on Sunday afternoon.

Mistry was travelling from Ahmedabad to Mumbai in a Mercedes car, a senior police officer said.

The accident took place on a bridge over the Surya river. On meeting with the accident, he was immediately shifted to a nearby hospital, where Cyrus Mistry was declared dead.

The body of Mistry has been shifted to the Kasa Rural Hospital for postmortem.

Mistry, who was the sixth chairman of Tata Sons, was ousted from the position in October 2016. He had taken over as the chairman in December 2012 after Ratan Tata announced his retirement. N Chandrasekaran later took over as Executive Chairman of Tata Sons.
