Bihar polls: BJP wins 5 seats, leads on 68

The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Tuesday secured victory on five seats in the 243-member Bihar Assembly elections and was leading on 68 seats, emerging as the single largest party in the state.

Latest Election Commission inputs said the counting of votes was still on with more than 2.30 crore votes out of the total 4.10 crore ballots counted so far.

The BJP's five seats were among a total of 12 seats where results have been declared by the Election Commission till 5.54 p.m.

In seven out of 12 declared seats, the Tejashwi Yadav-led Rashtriya Janata Dal secured victory, present Chief Minister Nitish Kumar's Janata Dal-United and NDA ally Vikassheel Insaan Party secured two seats each and the Congress secured victory on one seat.
