The actor has come into focus after his announcement of political plunge. Now, a debate on the source of his acting style had taken centrestage. Actor Kamal Haasan, in an article for a Tamil weekly, wrote on the dual roles enacted by Sivaji Ganesan in the film Uthama Puthiran.
One of the roles was of a playboy and Sivaji Ganesan essayed the character with a fast gait, quick movement of hands and racy dialogue delivery, and Kamal commented that one of the present-day actors known for his style had derived his inspiration from that role, in an apparent dig at Rajinikanth.
A few days ago, speaking on New Year’s eve to his fans, Rajinikanth explained the origin of his style and attributed it to director Mahendran, in the film Mullum Malarum .
“What you see as Rajini style was entirely given to me by Mahendran,” Rajinikanth said. However, the raging debate on the origin of Rajini’s style continues as anyone who watches Uthama Puthi ran cannot miss the unmistakable mannerisms, which is now identified as Rajinikanth’s characteristic style.
Only Mahendran, an ardent fan of Sivaji Ganesan, can throw more light on the source of the inspiration.
