CHENNAI: In connection with the death of a 37-year-old woman on the terrace of her house in Ramapuram, the police arrested her cousin.

Pushpa, a resident of Senthamizh Nagar Extension in Ramapuram, was separated from her husband and was staying with her family.

On Wednesday, Pushpa was found dead on the terrace. Police recovered the body and sent it for an autopsy. Police arrested the suspect Karthik (34), a tailor from Valasaravakkam and Pushpa's cousin, on Friday in Tiruvannamalai, where he had been hiding.

Karthik and Pushpa were in an extra-marital relationship, and a dispute arose when Karthik objected to the inclusion of Pushpa's estranged husband's name in the wedding invitation of Pushpa's younger sister.

This led to a heated argument between them on the day of the incident, during which Karthik allegedly beat Pushpa to death. Further investigation is ongoing.
