25-year-old dies while watching cricket match in Chennai

The victim, Karthik (25), a resident of Kallidaikurichi in Tirunelveli, had been working at a private computer company in Koyambedu for three years and shared a rented room with friends in T Nagar.

CHENNAI: A 25-year-old man collapsed and died during a jubilant celebration after his friend's cricket team won a match in Chennai.

The victim, Karthik (25), a resident of Kallidaikurichi in Tirunelveli, had been working at a private computer company in Koyambedu for three years and shared a rented room with friends in T Nagar.

On Saturday evening, a cricket tournament for company employees was held at the Nandanam YMCA Ground in which Karthik’s friends’ team emerged victorious. During the celebrations, Karthik suddenly experienced breathing difficulties, collapsed, and lost consciousness. His friends immediately rushed him to a nearby private hospital by ambulance.

Despite treatment, Karthik passed away in the early hours of Sunday. It is reported that the victim had a history of respiratory distress and seizures since childhood.

The Saidapet Police have registered a case and are conducting further inquiries into the incident.
