Woman dies in accident caused by MTC bus

A 23-year-old woman died, and another was hurt after an MTC bus ran amok and hit a four-wheeler, which in turn hit a two-wheeler in Guindy on Friday.

The deceased has been identified as 23-year-old Indumathi, a resident of Tiruvallur, while 56-year-old Asha, a managerial staff at Tamil Nadu Warehousing Corporation, escaped with a few injuries.


Indumathi was riding pillion on a two-wheeler with her friend Arunraja (23), while Asha was travelling on a four-wheeler behind the two-wheeler on Sardar Patel Road.


The incident occurred when an MTC bus rammed into Asha’s vehicle from the back and it hit Indumathi’s bike. In the impact, Indumathi was thrown off the vehicle while Asha sufferedinjuries.


Passers-by rushed both of them to the hospital. Indumathi, however, died without responding to treatment. Asha continues to be under treatment. The Guindy traffic investigation police has registered a case and secured the MTC bus driver Palani. Further investigation is under way.
