CHENNAI: City police on Thursday arrested two persons, including a woman, for forcing young women into sex work. Two woman, who were locked up in a house in Tiruvottiyur, were rescued, police said.

The arrested persons were identified as S Satishkumar (43) of Tiruvottiyur and V Sarala (31) of Washermanpet.

Washermanpet Police received a tip off about prostitution in a neighbourhood off Tiruvottiyur high road after which a house was raided on specific information.

Police are investigating if the duo were part of a larger gang.

They were produced before a magistrate and remanded in judicial custody. The rescued women were admitted to a government home.
