A press statement on Tuesday stated that 21 persons lost their lives in separate incidents between October 10 and December 5 last year. The victims are from various districts including Kanyakumari, Sivagangai, Karur, Cuddalore, Theni and Tanjavur. 

Offering sympathies to the bereaved family members, the Chief Minister ordered ex-gratia payment of Rs. one lakh from the Chief Minister’s Public Relief Fund.
