The accused were identified as Mahesh Chowdry (24), Thayalram (22) and Shyam Chowdry (23). Among the trio, Shyam Chowdry is a friend of Nathuram, who was arrested for burgling 3.5 kg gold from a jewellery shop in 2017. He trained under him and indulged in thefts in their hometown, the police said.

The burglary happened on December 8 on Godown Street at Parry’s Corner and the shop belongs to one Thallaram (50) of Sowcarpet. He employed the trio from Rajasthan a few months ago, the police said.

Based on his complaint, the Flower Bazaar police registered a case and launched a hunt for the trio. After the CCTV footage showed them boarding an autorickshaw, the driver was secured and based on his inputs, a private travels firm was contacted as they got down there. Investigation revealed that they boarded a bus to Pune and with the phone number they had registered with the travels firm, they were traced to different places.

While Mahesh Chowdry was secured at Ahmadabad, Thayalram was secured at Pune. Based on their inputs, the police arrested Shyam Choudry in Goa. The police also seized Rs 5 lakh from them.
