The Teynampet police have arrested a 40-year-old man for stealing a laptop from a car parked in Apollo Hospital.

The accused, L Mahendran of Tiruverkadu, is a call taxi driver. The stolen laptop was recovered from him and his car, too, was seized. The laptop belongs to B Shreya (25) of Chromepet, who brought her mother in her car to Apollo Hospital in Teynampet for treatment on November 23.

When she returned to the parking lot a few hours later, she realised that her bag with the laptop was stolen from the car. Based on her complaint, the Teynampet police registered a case. They combed the CCTV footage from the area and found a man stealing the bag from the car. A hunt was launched and the accused was nabbed on Tuesday. The police said that Mahendran had come to drop another person at the hospital. He was remanded in judicial custody.
