Student dies as two-wheeler rams median at Poonamallee

A student of a private college died after his bike rammed into a median at Poonamallee on Thursday night. Police identified the deceased as Ahamed Siddique, a resident of Pudupet and a second year PG student of a private college in Kattankulathur.

According to the police, the youth had a helmet but was not wearing it while riding. He had sustained severe head injuries when he fell off the bike on Tambaram – Poonamallee Road.


He normally travels by the government bus but on Wednesday evening, he had taken a bike on rent from near his college and was heading home. At around 7.30 pm, he was riding on the Tambaram-Poonamallee bypass when he lost control of the bike and fell off, said the police. The other motorists and local residents rushed him to the hospital, but the medical team there declared him dead on arrival. The Poonamallee traffic investigation hasregistered a case.
