Southern Railway cancels trains from Egmore due to Cyclone Nivar

On the outset of Cyclone Nivar, the Southern Railway has cancelled most of the trains and the service of suburban trains too is disrupted.

The Southern Railway has changed the service timings of Suburban trains- 'Workmen Specials' in Chennai Suburban till 10 am today while the services stand cancelled beyond 10 hrs today (25.11.2020).

Meanwhile, the Southern Railway announced that the trains that depart from Egmore Railway Station, i.e., trains travelling to southern districts will be cancelled due to Nivar cyclone. While trains that depart from Chennai MGR Central Railway station are partially cancelled. The Thiruvananthapuram-Chennai central special train, Puducherry- Howrah, Pallavan and Vaigai express trains are partially cancelled for the day and the Puducherry- Katpadi Howrah is cancelled for tomorrow, Also, the Southern Railway said that full refunds for the cancelled can be claimed within the next 6 months. For PRS counter tickets, refunds across the counter can be availed on submission of the tickets in counter, while auto refund facility is enabled for online booking.

For partially cancelled trains, passengers can avail refund for untravelled portions, within the next 6 months.
