Sathyam to unveil theatre in Mumbai

One of the city’s largest multiplex chains, SPI Cinemas, which owns the brand Sathyam Cinemas, has now made inroads into the Mumbai market having taken over Globus Cinema, which is owned by the Raheja Group.

The French themed theatre in Bandra named Le Reve (The Dream), which has a single screen with 259 seats will be unveiled to the public on Friday. According to sources, the deal with Globus Cinema involves SPI Cinemas taking over the theatre and operating over a nine-year lease. The facility is said to be a state of art cinema with 4K projection and Dolby Atmos. At present, SPI Cinemas has five properties in Chennai including Sathyam, Escape, Palazzo, S2 Theyagaraja, and S2 Perambur with a total of 8,342 seats. The company has one theatre in Coimbatore called thecinema which has a seating capacity of 1,561 seats. According to informed sources, the team behind the popular multiplex chain is also keen on opening new facilities in Kerala, Telangana, Bengaluru and Puducherry, among others.
