CHENNAI: The city police rescued a 16-year-old boy from Bengaluru who had run away after a quarrel with his parents a month ago and reunited him with his family on Wednesday.

The police said that the boy is a Class 11 student. He left home in February after a squabble with his parents and roamed around.

On Tuesday, he boarded a train from Bengaluru and arrived at Egmore railway station around 9 pm.

On arriving at the station, he approached a police officer on patrol and sought his mobile phone to call his parents.

After the phone call, the police questioned the boy and learned that he was a runaway kid and handed him over to a police station.

The Egmore Police team conducted enquiries and learnt that the parents had filed a missing person complaint at Kamakshipalya police station in Bengaluru.

Egmore police informed Bengaluru officers, after which the family travelled to Chennai.

The police handed over the boy to his parents on Wednesday afternoon.

The boy's parents commended the Greater Chennai Police (GCP) for their efforts.
