Rs 32L worth gold seized from 3 fliers

Customs officials seized gold worth Rs 32 lakh at Chennai airport on Sunday. The officials were checking passengers who arrived from Colombo on Sunday night. On suspicion, they intercepted Syed Mustafa (26) of Cuddalore, Rawther (43) of Chennai, Uthayakumar (40) of Pudukottai at the arrival hall.

On persistent questioning, all of them admitted having gold concealed in the rectum in a form of a paste. The officials recovered nine bundles, three from each of them. On extraction, gold was weighing about 817-gram and worth Rs 32 lakh was recovered. The officials seized the gold and detained the fliers forfurther inquiry.
