Rajiv Gandhi remembered on birth anniversary

Floral tributes were paid to former Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi on his 74th birth anniversary in Puducherry and Chennai on Monday.

Puducherry Chief Minister V Narayanasamy, his Cabinet Colleagues, Speaker V Vaithilingam, legislators and senior officials of the territorial administration were among others who garlanded the statue of Rajiv Gandhi at Ellapillaichavady to mark the occasion. Congress party leaders and other functionaries also garlanded Rajiv Gandhi’s statue.

An all religious prayer was conducted, patriotic songs sung and Sadbhavana and renewable energy pledge were taken at the pedestal of the former Prime Minister’s statue to mark the occasion.

Meanwhile in Chennai, Congress workers led by TNCC president Su Thirunavukkarasar paid floral tributes to Rajiv at Sathyamoorthy Bhavan.
