A pregnant woman, wife of a ministerial staff at the DGP office in the city, committed suicide in Madhavaram. The deceased Vinnarasi was a BE graduate and her husband Kesavan is a ministerial staff at the DGP office in the city, said police.

Vinnarasi who was five-month pregnant stayed next to her parents' house and allegedly often complained of stomach pain.

On Wednesday, her parents were away for some other work and Kesavan too reported to duty when Vinnarasi who was alone at home hanged herself in the bathroom.

Vinnarasi's mother Parvathammal reached the house in the evening and was shocked to find Vinnarasi hanging from the ceiling. On information, Madhavaram police registered a case and sent her body for post-mortem. A case has been registered.
