Politicos pay tribute to Immanuvel Sekar on death anniversary

The 59th death anniversary of Dalit leader Immanuvel Sekaran passed off peacefully without any untoward incidents reported as hundreds of people and politicians paid homage at his memorial on Sunday.

On behalf of the ruling party, IT Minister Manikandan, Adi Dravidar and Tribal Welfare Minister Rajalakshmi, and MP Anwar Raja placed wreath and paid homage to Immanuvel Sekaran. From DMK, former ministers Tamilarasi, Sathiyamurthy, former MLA Thisaiveeran, Ramanathapuram district secretary Thivakaran and others paid homage. VCK leader Thirumavalavan arrived here with a large number of his party men to pay his respects. 

The entire district was brought under security cover to prevent any clash on Sunday. More than 5,000 policemen were stationed at various spots in the district. The security arrangements were monitored by three IGs. All the check posts were thoroughly guarded and anyone entering Paramakudi was checked thrice. Drones and CCTV cameras were deployed to monitor the crowd and to prevent untoward incidents in the area. 

Sarangan, IG (Technical Services), said that the borders were tightly guarded to prevent entry of unwanted people into the district.
