One dies, six hurt as bus turns turtle

A 26-year-old man died and six others were injured after a private bus turned turtle near Sirpermbudur on Monday.

The deceased was identified as T Damodaran from Karur. He was working as a technician at a private automobile spare parts manufacturing firm, to which the bus belonged. The staff bus was heading towards the factory with 22 staff on the Sriperumbudur-Kundrathur road on Monday morning. Around 7.30 am, the driver lost control of the vehicle and it turned turtle.


Onlookers informed the police and they arrived at the spot to rescue the passengers who were stuck inside the vehicle. While Damodaran died on the spot, six others were admitted to Sriperumbudur Government Hospital with injuries.


The police have registered a case a search is on to find the driver who fled from the spot.
