“Changing social scenario invites newer offences. In future, terrorism will evolve into cyber terrorism and there also might be cyber wars between nations,” Southern Zone IG S Murugan said. “In the digital world nothing can be deleted. Once we  insert the details they can’t be deleted. So women should not  use their pictures for profiles in Facebook as it is being  misused (by some) nowadays,” he said, adding, ‘unlawful acts’ using electronic devices were on the rise. Speaking at a seminar at St. Xaviers College in Palayamkottai here titled, “Cyber Crimes and Social Media  Issues,” Murugan said having fake IDs and hacking of websites among others, were “punishable offences.” He noted that modern day youth were ‘addicted’ to social media like Facebook and WhatsApp.
