NCB nabs three men with 191 kg of ganja

Sleuths from the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) seized 191.5 kg of ganja from a vehicle at Kallikuppam toll plaza near Ambattur and arrested 3 persons on Tuesday.

The NCB team from Chennai intercepted one car bearing fake Andhra Pradesh registration number on Tuesday. The vehicle was coming from AP side. On checking the vehicle, the team found 191.5 kg ganja concealed in vehicle’s trunk.


The NCB also arrested three persons identified as Godugu Raju (56) of Warangal, Andhra Pradesh, Dinker Mohan Patsalge (28) and a 17-year-old youth, from Latur Maharashtra.


They, when questioned, revealed that the contraband was trafficked on directions of one Amjath, who supplies ganja to various places on-demand.


Nepal national held for peddling ganja


The Ashok Nagar police arrested a Nepal national in possession of 800-gram ganja. The accused was identified as Dek Bahadur (24), a resident of Royapuram. He was a security guard at a house in Saidapet and peddled ganja during free hours, the police said. Bahadur was secured from Sixth Avenue at Ashok Nagar based on a tip-off and remanded in judicial custody on Thursday.
