Murder accused on conditional bail steals bike from Spencer plaza

CHENNAI: A 23 year-old-man, accused in a murder case, who is required to sign everyday at Anna Salai police station as part of his bail condition, stole a two-wheeler from Spencer Plaza shopping mall right opposite the police station.

Police had received a complaint from V Dinesh (40) of Mandaveli, who runs a shop in Spencer plaza.

On August 14, his two-wheeler which he had parked in the area designated for shop owners in the mall parking had gone missing.

Based on his complaint, police launched a hunt for the bike thief.

On perusing the CCTV footage, police zeroed in on the suspect and secured him on Monday.

The arrested person was identified as H Parthasarathy (23) of Red Hills. Police said that Parthasarathy is required to sign at the Anna Salai police station everyday and on August 14, he stole the bike after he signed at the station.

The stolen two-wheeler was recovered from him. He was produced before a magistrate and remanded in judicial custody.
