CHENNAI: A masked gang hacked a 26-year-old history sheeter to death on Wednesday evening in Anna Nagar East. Hours earlier, the same gang barged into a house looking for a teenager and attacked his mother.
Police have arrested at least six people, including Logu, whose gang is believed to be behind the two attacks.
The deceased, Chinna Robert (26) of First Street, Annai Satya Nagar, who had several cases against him, was walking on Second Street at 7.15 pm when the gang came on a two-wheeler. Robert tried to escape, but the gang chased and hacked him before fleeing from the scene. The people there rushed him to Government Kilpauk Medical College Hospital, where he died later in the night.
The police said the same gang had barged into a house in Ayanavaram and attacked a woman a few hours prior to the murder. The woman, Revathi, is undergoing treatment at Government Kilpauk Medical College Hospital where she received 10 sutures on her head.
The police believe that both attacks were carried out by a gang led by Logu, a history sheeter who had allegedly murdered Robert’s associate Gokul in 2019.
In the other case, Revathi’s 17-year-old son was arrested for setting on fire an auto that belonged to Logu's associate. The gang went in search of the boy at his house and ended up attacking his mother Revathi.
