Man kills friend during drunken brawl in KK Nagar, booked

On September 13, the victim, in a drunken state had entered into an argument with his friend, K Moorthy, who was also drunk.

CHENNAI: A 30-year-old man, who was earlier arrested on assault charges, was booked for murder after death of his friend, whom he assaulted in a drunken fight outside a Tasmac outlet in KK Nagar, a week ago.

The deceased, R Kandan (46) is a resident of old Nesapakkam.

On September 13, the victim, in a drunken state had entered into an argument with his friend, K Moorthy, who was also drunk. Both of them were consuming alcohol outside a Tasmac outlet on Anna Main Road in KK Nagar.

In the melee, Moorthy attacked Kandan with a wooden log in which the latter suffered injuries on his head.

Kandan was admitted to the Government Royapettah Hospital for treatment, where he succumbed to the injuries on Friday. Subsequently, Moorthy who was earlier sent to jail on assault charges, has now been booked under murder charges by the MGR Nagar police.
