Man, juvenile snatch mobile phone from woman at Taramani bus stop

CHENNAI: Police on Tuesday arrested a 31-year-old man and his juvenile accomplice for stealing a mobile phone from a woman waiting at a bus stop near Taramani.

The victim, K Kiruthika (26), a resident of Rajakilpakkam near Tambaram works at a private firm near Taramani.

On Monday (Oct 10), around 9.30 pm, Kiruthika was waiting at the bus stop to travel to home from office when two persons who came on a bike snatched her phone and fled the scene.

Based on the woman’s complaint, Taramani Police registered a case.

After perusing CCTV footage, police zeroed in on the suspects and picked up two of them on Wednesday, including a 17-year -old boy.

He was produced before the juvenile justice board and sent to a government home for boys.

The arrested person was identified as N Vigneshwaran (31) of Kottivakkam. Police secured the stolen mobile phone from him. He was produced before a magistrate and remanded in judicial custody.

Police said that he has a case pending against him in Kotturpuram police station.
