CHENNAI: Tiruverkadu police on Tuesday arrested a 37-year-old man for allegedly murdering his father, in an inebriated condition. The deceased was identified as Dilli alias Kumar (60).

Police said that the accused, Prakash is a habitual drinker. Because of his chronic drinking habit, he got separated from his wife. She has been currently living with her parents, after which Prakash was living alone. As his parents live nearby, he visited them on Monday evening.

As Prakash was in an inebriated condition, it did not sit well with his father. When his father questioned about this, Prakash got enraged and assaulted him.

In the melee, Prakash banged his father’s head against the wall after which the elderly man became unconscious. Neighbours rushed Dilli to a nearby hospital, where he was declared brought dead. Tiruverkadu police, on information, secured the body and sent it to government hospital for autopsy.
