CHENNAI: Former secretary of Rajinikanth’s Fan Club and a close friend of the actor, VM Sudhakar, died in Chennai on Friday.

He was 71, and is survived by his wife and two sons, including actor BS Adhesh.

After paying homage at Sudhakar’s residence in Anna Nagar on Friday morning, Rajini took to social media to condole the death. “I am deeply saddened by the passing away of my dear friend VM Sudhakar. My deepest condolences to his family and all who are bereaved. May his soul rest in peace,” he said.

Sudhakar looked after the fan club units and was the main decision-maker until he was diagnosed with kidney cancer. However, it is not known if that was the cause for his death or COVID aftereffects.

After he was hospitalised for a few months, it was Rajini who took care of his treatment expenses. “Sudhakar is a long-time friend of mine and was ailing for a long time. There are several fond memories that Sudhakar and I shared. He always wished me well for me,” Rajini said in a video.
