CHENNAI: Municipal Administration Minister KN Nehru on Tuesday launched a mobile application “TN urban e-service” for payment of taxes for all the municipalities and corporations and to file complaints.

Addressing a workshop on City Solid Waste Management Action Plan here, he said that to achieve three-star ratings in the litter-free city category by 2026, several infrastructure works are going to be taken up at the State fund of Rs 530 crore and the central fund of Rs 807 crore.

He said that all the urban local bodies together generate 15,000 tonnes of garbage, including 55 per cent degradable and 45 per cent non-degradable.

“In the urban areas, 40-60 per cent of garbages are degradable, 20-30 per cent is recyclable waste and 10-20 per cent is non-recyclable waste. About 5-15 per cent of the total garbage collected is building debris,” he said.
