Kalam a source of inspiration to children: Governor Rosaiah

Governor K Rosaiah unveiled a statue of Former President Dr APJ Abdul Kalam to commemorate National Science Day on Sunday.

Speaking after unveiling the statue of the late Abdul Kalam and paying floral tributes at Raj Bhavan, on National Science Day, Governor K Rosaiah said Kalam felt at home whenever he was in Raj Bhavan and it had the privilege of hosting him many a time. Kalam was a people’s president, a missile scientist and a source of inspiration to the young children and youth of the nation, Rosaiah said. It was a privilege to unveil his statue, he added. 

Apart from the statue of Dr Kalam, there are statues of Mahatma Gandhiji, Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru, Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, Dr Rajendra Prasad, Dr S Radhakrishnan, C Rajaji and Moulana Abul Kalam Azad. The Bronze statue of Dr Kalam was made by sculptor Kishore Nagappa of Chennai.  

The statue is of 6 feet and 2 inches in height with a bastion of 5 feet. The Governor honoured the sculptor with a shawl.
