Inspector rushes woman in labour pain to hospital

A 24-year-old pregnant woman who developed labour pain was taken to the RSRM hospital in time by Tiruvottiyur crime inspector in the police vehicle on Thursday night.

Inspector Bhuvaneshwari and head constable Manuvel were on patrol at Udaya Suriyan Nagar in Tiruvottiyur around 7 pm when they came to know that one Kalaivani Premkumar of the locality was struggling in labour pain as the 108 ambulance did not arrive at the spot even after being alerted a few hours ago.

The inspector too tried to reach 108 ambulance control room, but in vain. Sensing the situation, the inspector sought permission from Assistant Commissioner Anandkumar and asked Kalaivani to board the patrol vehicle.

She was rushed to RSRM hospital Royapuram within minutes and was immediately admitted to the labour ward.
